Description

Replace the lower cowl section beneath the windshield vent panel on your 1967–1968 Ford Mustang. This formed steel panel has raised round vent openings and a recessed center section for repairs to the lower layer of the cowl. Choose it when that lower section is damaged, and assess the upper panel separately.

Choose the lower or upper cowl

Use SYC-FD61-26 for the lower cowl section. The slotted upper cowl vent panel is a separate product, SYC-FD61-27. Plan access to both layers before starting a repair where corrosion extends beyond the visible upper surface.

Is this the visible slotted panel in front of the windshield?

This is the lower panel beneath that surface. For the slotted upper panel, select the Upper Cowl Vent Panel, SYC-FD61-27.

Should I replace the upper panel as well?

That depends on the condition of the upper sheet metal and its joining edges. Inspect both layers while the repair area is accessible; a sound upper panel and a corroded lower panel require a different plan from damage through both layers.

Does this replace the heater or ventilation unit?

No. It is a body panel in the cowl area, rather than a heater or ventilation unit. Identify any separate duct, seal or equipment repairs as part of the job.
